San Mateo, when you heard the call of Jesus, you did not hesitate to leave behind your worldly profession and resolutely chose to follow Him. Because of your faith in Jesus, God counted you as righteous, granted you eternal life, and bestowed upon you the truth and the Holy Spirit to guide you on the path of sanctification. As a disciple of the Lord, you took Christ as your example, lived out the character of the Kingdom of Heaven, manifested the power of the Gospel, and became the light and salt of the world. San Mateo, Jesus entrusted you with a glorious mission—to spread the Gospel from your surroundings to the ends of the earth. You led people to know Jesus and receive new life, and you taught them the truth so that they too could become disciples of the Lord. Therefore, you took pride in the Gospel, remained faithful to the Great Commission, willingly became a loyal servant of the Lord, a worker in the great end-time harvest of a billion souls, a messenger to bring the Gospel back to Jerusalem, and a forerunner preparing the way for the return of the Lord.
